10 reasons why your Wi Fi is so slow and how to fix it

Wi-Fi is the way of the world now. It is the invisible friend who comforts us, allows us to rock on Netflix in bed, and equips us to work from anywhere at any time. Wi-Fi is pretty much a necessity these days. Sometimes, however, the relationship becomes sour - especially when Wi-Fi slows down at a pace. When you depend on Wi-Fi, speed problems can be harmful. Unfortunately, speed issues are not always easy to diagnose due to Wi-Fi operation. An unknown variable could potentially reduce your Wi-Fi speed in half, so its important to know what to look for when something goes wrong not. Knowing this, we can now explore some of the lesser-known reasons why your Wi-Fi is so slow - and the best ways to solve these problems.

1. Router positioning: High vs low

Most people underestimate the importance of choosing a good place for a Wi-Fi router. Even a small change in positioning could end up being the difference between day and night.

If you are like most people, you probably unpacked your new router, located at the exit of the reasonable location, plugged in, and simply left on everything that was nearby: a shelf, desk, or even floor. As it stands, the routers height makes a difference.

This means that your router leaving on the ground or other objects behind usually results in significantly worse performance. Instead, put the router as high as possible to extend the range of broadcast waves. This also makes it possible to remove the router from possible interferences.

2. Router positioning: Concrete & metals

Materials such as concrete and metal tend to be the worst for blocking Wi-Fi waves, but even objects from other materials can hinder the high wireless performance. Make sure that your router is not blocked by other objects, especially electronic devices.

Also, avoid placing your router in your basement as this area is usually surrounded by a lot of concrete, which can be almost impossible for Wi-Fi signals to penetrate.

3. Router positioning: Distance to router

The further away you are from your router, the lower the Wi-Fi signal. Therefore, the best option is to place your router as close to your devices as possible, but this is only convenient if you have a main area where you tend to use your devices.

Otherwise, you should place your router near the center of your house. After all, Wi-Fi broadcasts 360 degrees, so it does not make sense to put it at one end of the house.

However, if your router is particularly weak or your home is particularly large, you may need to increase the range of these Wi-Fi waves by using Wi-Fi extensions or repeaters. These are auxiliary devices that connect to the Wi-Fi network. Router and "repeat" the signal so that it covers more surface.

4. Wireless interference & noise

You probably have never noticed, but there are wireless signals everywhere you go and they go through you all the time. From where? Electronic devices, Wi-Fi routers, satellites, cellular towers, etc.

Information designer Richard Vijgen has created "The Architecture of Radio" - available on iOS and Android - that uses public information on satellites and cell towers, as well as Wi-Fi information, to create a map of All the invisible signals around you. I tried this out and you can see the results of my essay in the screenshot above.

Although Wi-Fi is assumed to be on a different frequency than most of these devices, the amount of radio noise may still cause interference.

5. Microwaves can cause interference

Did you know that microwave ovens can cause interference with your Wi-Fi network? Especially with older routers. This is because microwave ovens operate at a frequency of 2.45 GHz, which is incredibly close to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band.

Specifically, the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band actually broadcasts between 2.412 GHz and 2.472 GHz, there are times when the frequency of microwaves can overlap with the Wi-Fi frequency - and when this occurs, Transferred data is disrupted.

Most microwaves are properly protected so that no waves should be detected outside the oven, but when there is a faulty or bad shield, this is where interference may occur.

6. Wireless interference: Bluetooth devices

It turns out that another preferred type of wireless connection - Bluetooth - also happens to operate at 2.4 GHz. In theory, a properly designed device must be shielded in a manner that prevents interference.

In addition, in order to avoid the frequency clash, Bluetooth manufacturers use frequency hops, which is where the signal rotates randomly between 70 different channels, changing up to 1,600 times per second. Newer Bluetooth devices may also have the ability to identify "bad" or currently in use channels and avoid those.

But interference can still occur, so try to move the router away from Bluetooth devices (or at least turn them off) to see if this is the cause of your problems - especially if they are older Bluetooth devices without management channels.

7. Wireless interference: Christmas lights

Fairly funny, Christmas lights (or fairy lights) can be a misguided guilty by slowing down your Wi-Fi because these lights can emit an electromagnetic field that interacts with your Wi-Fi band. This is especially bad when you Use lights with the ability to blink.

You are not even safe with modern LED lights because some of them have flashing chips built into each lamp, and these create an interfering electromagnetic field.

In reality, all other types of lights can cause interference by emitting electromagnetic fields like this, but the effect is almost negligible in most cases. However, you must keep your router away from electric lights just in case.

8. Check for Channel interference

A modern world truth is that every household has its own Wi-Fi network, which can cause problems with channel overlap. This can be somewhat problematic in a townhouse but is particularly problematic in residential complexes and apartments where there may be a lot of routers nearby.

Channel overlap is mostly a problem for routers that can only broadcast at 2.4 GHz, or if you have devices that can not receive a 2.4 GHz wireless signal. Why? Because there are only 14 channels to broadcast on. Two routers broadcasting on the same channel at the same frequency will interfere.

This is why it is important that you choose a good channel in your router settings. Modern routers can automatically choose channels for you, but it is sometimes best to explore and find the best channel yourself.

In addition, people can try to get on your network without your knowledge, and this can also slow down your Wi-Fi. The most important thing you can do about this is to make sure your router does not A password easy to break. Also, keep your router up to date and perform regular checks on suspicious devices on your network.

9. Prioritize network traffic

Have you ever left a massive download running on your PC? Well, in this case, you are probably the cause of your own slow Wi-Fi. Downloading large files can take a long time on your Wi-Fi performance. Dear Zindagi continues to mesmerise viewers all over as the movie enters its second week. And for those who were ready to write Shah Rukh Khan after the disappointing performance of Dilwale and FAN, well, they will be eating their words now. Agreed that Dear Zindagi is no Sultan-like blockbuster, but it was never promoted in that way. For such a mass entertainer-like performance, wait for Raees that comes in January. Dear Zindagi can be SRK’s smallest film in years when it comes to the movie’s budget, and therefore the business it is making is enough for the movie to be called a success.

Well, if you thought as a SRK fan, you can be satisfied with how his latest film has met with such a glowing reception, you would be surprised to see Salman Khan unveil the first look of Shah Rukh Khan‘s untitled movie with Anushka Sharma on Twitter. As expected, both the promotional move as well as the poster got an overwhelming response. And just when we are yet to recover from the euphoria of seeing that poster, SRK pulls another trick card from his sleeve, as he released a special video announcement for the trailer of Raees, that’s coming out on December 7. The announcement video itself had some unseen scenes from Raees, that left us asking for more. Oh, why does December 7 feel so far away?

So with three things happening back to back with regards to King Khan and his movies, here’s why we feel it is the best time to be a Shah Rukh Khan fan. Statutory Warning: No Salman Khan fan was hurt while writing this piece.

They say age is just a number. After watching SRK charm the audience with his bearded appearance, mesmerising twinkling eyes, and that dimpled smile playing Dr Jehangir Khan in DZ, we finally agree to that adage. Mr Khan does know how to age gracefully. Or is he even aging at all?

While we have to wait for days for our superstars to give us a proper update about their upcoming movies, Shah Rukh Khan has just unveiled the first look of his upcoming movie, while prepping us for the trailer of his other future project. This is when his movie has just released and is running successfully at the theatres. I mean, as a Shah Rukh Khan fan, what more do you want?

As an SRK fan myself, I was terribly disappointed with how Dilwale and FAN, two very exciting movies for me, finally turned out to be. So it was expected that these two movie will underperform at the box office, and there were loud whispers that SRK is no longer the force majeure that he was before. However Dear Zindagi worked surprisingly, despite it being an Alia Bhatt movie and SRK being in a supporting role. Even though I am not completely impressed by the movie, DZ’s positive reception is enough to get us more excited about Raees. Speaking of which…

Finally we have something in Raees to give takkar to Sultan

Sultan is the biggest hit of 2016 (unless Dangal manages a coup), and it made nearly every Salman Khan fan happy with its masala elements. As for Shah Rukh Khan, FAN may have flopped, but Dear Zindagi is running successfully. But it is neither a mass entertainer nor has the potential to be competition to Sultan in any way. For that we have to wait for Raees. Going by the first teaser that came more than a year ago and its recent announcement video, Shah Rukh Khan has a potential blockbuster in hand that could take on Sultan’s BO business heads on. We are so excited for its release!

Shah Rukh Khan has often been accused of sticking to Rahul and Raj kinda roles by his detractors. Well, from 2016, you can never accuse him of doing so anymore. Even though FAN was a flop, it had SRK being a part of a movie where he does everything except romance. Dear Zindagi put him and Alia Bhatt in a frame, made us saw how good they look together but refrained from showing them as a romantic pair, which could be a first for an SRK movie. In Raees, he is a ganglord, Miyaanbhai, a man with grey shades, and you know SRK rocks in such characters. Even though his movie with Anushka Sharma is romantic in nature, it’s an Imtiaz Ali movie, so the romance will be very underrated here. And he is playing a freaking dwarf in Aanand L Rai’s next!

After pleasing his friends Farah Khan and Rohit Shetty by working in Happy New Year and Dilwale, SRk is now ready to work with new and exciting directors. While his attempt with Maneesh Sharma (FAN) may have gone awry, Gauri Shinde proved lucky for him. Now his upcoming movies are all directed by acclaimed directors – Raees with Rahul Dholakia (Parzania) and those untitled movies with Imtiaz Ali (Jab We Met, Rockstar, Highway) and Aanand L Rai (Tanu Weds Manu, Raanjhanaa).

Both Salman and Shah Rukh have let go off their petty egos and have become good friends. Shah Rukh Khan rescheduled the release of Raees to avoid clash with Sultan. Both went cycling together, they promote each other’s movie, and now Salman has even unveiled the first look of SRK’s untitled movie with Imtiaz Ali. Now there are reports that they will host the next Star Screen Awards. So if these two stars can get along as good friends, why not their warring fans? Let the Bhaichara spread to the fan clubs as well. Or should we wait for Rakesh Roshan to announce Karan Arjun Phir Se?

A is for Ancient Egypt

I can hardly believe it myself, but because we started our school year in July, we have already finished our first quarter of the school year. Its amazing to think that we are a fourth of the way through and it is even more amazing that I am quite certain this has been our most productive school year yet. I think this is largely due to the fact that we have teamed up with great friends (another like-minded family with kiddos similar ages to ours) to complete History and Science. We get together a couple times a week to do experiments and projects that go along with our weekly reading.

Since our history lessons recently have centered largely around Ancient Egypt, we decided to end our first quarter with a celebration...an Ancient Egyptian Feast.

For weeks, our kids have prepared for the feast which included making costumes. Here is our Ancient Egypt mummy...E9 style...

And a couple Egyptian warriors, outfitted with Egyptian weaponry...

Finally, we had some beautiful Egyptian princesses...

Our little Egyptians were awfully hungry after all their report-writing, decorating, and costume-making. But they each helped preparing the feast as well.

We served fresh fruit, hummus, whole wheat bread, and honey...all staples of the Ancient Egyptian diet. We also served goldfish crackers. Not exactly an Ancient Egyptian treat...but it represented the fact that they ate a lot of fish. :o)

We made rice crispie treat pyramids with brown sugar sand.

The kids worked hard on decorating and labeling the Ancient Egyptian map cake.?

And finally we made fig cakes using this recipe.

Dads and extended family attended and got to see many of the projects the kids have been working on.

Presentations included a discussion about Egyptian gods and how the true God showed He was all-powerful over all man-made idols during the ten plagues of Exodus. Also, the girls discussed different trades that women would have participated in and performed an Egyptian dance.

The boys described Egyptian weapons and set up a hunting course in the front yard for all to practice hunting skills. Also, the kids performed an awesome skit describing, and acting out the mummification process.

1 is One A Counting Book

I enjoy Tasha Tudors work and books. We have her book 1 is One. It is wonderfully illustrated book mixing numerals and artwork for the numbers one through twenty.

The illustrations alternate black and white and colored. The pages also rhyme, making it fun to read as well as look through.

What I really like is the way the book inspires creativity with numbers. Most books seem to end at ten, but this book goes up to twenty, with each page just as interesting as the next. After reading the book to my daughter a few times I thought it would fun to make our own 1 is One book. I used heavy drawing paper and tied it together. The first day she decorated the cover.

We are now about halfway through, and work on it a page at a time whenever she wants to. To start, we read her previous work (pages) and she tells me what number is next. We practice writing the numeral on a little chalkboard and then she writes it on the page.

I then say "8 is eight..." and she says the rest while I write it down. It has been fun making the book and my daughter really enjoys looking through her work and reading it to me or having me read it to her. It will be interesting to see what she comes up as the numbers increase. The words in the book really lend themselves to creative thought.

In a non-cooperating plea deal, Jeremy pled guilty to one count of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. Despite lodging nearly 265 letters of support calling on judge Loretta Preska to show leniency, Jeremy was sentenced to the maximum allowed under his plea agreement.

Since March of 2012, Jeremy has been cut off from his friends and family, and punished with extensive stays in solitary confinement – treatment normally reserved for the most egregious offenses. 9 11 Iraq Is Paying the PRICE

President Bush is still misleading the World and American public opinion emotionally through using the pretext (war against terrorism). In his speech broadcast on Monday , the fifth anniversary of 9/11, he played his emotion game to defend the war in Iraq, although many democratic politicians criticized him for politicizing a national day of mourning. He described a “brutal enemy still determined to kill Americans, perhaps with weapons of mass destruction if they get the chance”.
Reviewing the situation after 9/11, the day that changed the world, we will find that Iraq had paid and still the highest price. The whole country and state was destroyed becoming the “first front on the war of terrorism” as Nouri Al-Maliky, the Iraqi Prime Minister confirmed while visiting US weeks ago.
The Baghdad morgue announced receiving 1458 shout dead bodies last August, (the number indicates the civilians victims in Baghdad only).. Al-Sabah, the government supported IMN daily, quoted the general inspector of the ministry of health on August 13 saying that the victims of the violence in Baghdad reduced 50% in August!! Maj. Gen. William B. Caldwell wrote in the same meaning saying, “However, the violence Baghdad endured in July receded during the month of August. Attacks in Baghdad were well below the monthly average for July. Since August 7, the murder rate in Baghdad dropped 52 percent from the daily rate for July.”
The two statements could give a clear view on the civilian victims of violence in Baghdad only since no official and non-official institutes in Iraq and US are ready to give the accurate number of the civilian casualties in Iraq. So, 1458 shot dead bodies in August were the 50% of the causalities in July!!
Although the intelligence committee of the Congress issued their latest report last week confirming that there was no relation between Saddam Hussein regime and Al-Qaeda, Bush is still speaking about “enemies” in Iraq “will attack the Americans”!! Iraq, the Bush pretext toward defending his alleged war against terrorism, instead of becoming a symbol of democracy became a symbol of a destroyed and weak state could be divided any time if the Bush backed Kurds continue their plans in having Kirkuk, the oil rich city, as the capital city for their “region”, the step that incites the Shiites to establish their region in the central and southern Iraq. The national Accord Front, Sunnis, that gave the Kurds their word in supporting establishing their northern region are refusing the establishment of the Shiite region and threatened to stop supporting Kurds if they will support the Shiite project. The other Sunnis in the Iraqi Parliament, and Iriqiya bloc, led by Ayad Allawi, and Shiite parties with in the United Iraqi Alliance, led by Abdul aziz Al-Hakim, are refusing the Shiite project.
The Sunnis who participated in the political process on the condition of re writing the Constitution are insisting on their condition otherwise they will withdrew from the political scene. The Iraqi constitution does not allow establishing regions on ethnic and sectarian basis, yet the Kurds are insisting on their demands and going ahead in their plans especially after their Parliament finished writing their constitution insisting on having Kirkuk.. Iraq is going from worse to worse; the Parliament involved in discussing the Shiite project and the Barzani’s decree of not raising the Iraqi flag in “Kurdistan”. So, Iraq is paying the price with out having any relation with the “terrorists” who targeted US.. Till when Bush will mislead the world? No body could answer..

2011 Is One Sexy Prime

2011 is a sexy prime. And not only in a Playboy calendar.

Like prime ministers and prime ribs, prime numbers are the elite of their kind. They are unbreakable.

Unlike other numbers that can be split into smaller factors (e.g. 6=2 x 3), prime numbers can only be divided by 1 and themselves. Three is prime, so are 5, 7, and 11. The only even prime is 2.

A lot of special numbers around us are primes. Emergency phone numbers 911 and (in some European countries) 101 are primes. The fearful 13 is a prime.

The world of primes is very colorful, especially when you look at their relationship with their neighboring primes. Those that differ by 2, like 3 and 5, are called twin primes. Those that differ by 4 are cousin primes. Two subsequent primes that differ by 6 are called sexy primes — because ‘‘sex’’ is Latin for ‘‘six.’’

2011 and 2017 are two sexy primes. There are also lucky primes, happy primes, Cuban primes, Titanic primes, and many more.

Primes have always been the most talked about numbers; even Pythagoras believed that these unbreakable numbers have some spiritual properties. It was discovered that you can create any number by multiplying or adding the primes together. Check it out: Every even number larger than 6 can be represented as a product of primes and as a sum of two primes. For example: 8 = 2 x 2 x 2 = 5 + 3

But about 40 years ago, primes became celebrities. Math paparazzi all around the world are now hunting for primes. Awards are offered for those who discover hundred-million-digit prime numbers and every new prime spotting is noted and celebrated.
Why? Because any bank transaction, any online purchase, any medical or military data exchange requires data encryption.

Cryptographers found a great encryption mechanism using the observation that when a number is created as a product of two large primes, guessing or computing those primes from the total number is almost impossible. Those primes are used to encrypt the message and serve as a secret digital key known only to the encrypting and decrypting parties.

The more unbreakable you want your code to be, the larger the primes you should use for encryption. Thus, the search for the ultra-large prime numbers.

Want to help search? The good news is that there are infinitely many prime numbers. Euclid proved that. But the bad news is that higher you climb in digits, the more rare these prime numbers are.

The probability of any random number being prime is inversely proportional to the number of its digits (roughly). So, for a hundred-million-digit number, the probability of it being prime is 1/100,000,000, or 0.00000001.

Also, for such large numbers it takes about a month — even for a computer — to check whether any given number is a prime or not.

In addition to helping scramble secret messages, primes can be used to help hide the messages inside an image or audio signal.

As appropriate for celebrities, primes are surrounded by some mysticism. They are not regularly positioned among other numbers, nor are they randomly spread.

Take the recent and future prime years: 2003, 2011, 2017, 2027, 2029. Some are 10 years apart and some only 2. Like fortune tellers, number theory scientists are trying to detect and predict patterns in prime number appearances. Turns out that if you arrange all the numbers in a spiral instead of a number line, and then connect all the primes, you will find some surprising diagonal patterns.

Back to our special year. The upside-down reflection of 2011 on a digital calculator or clock is 5011, which is also a prime. Parents who gave birth on the second Tuesday in January could just remember a bunch of 1s for their child’s birth date: 1/11/11. You can still make it for 11/1/11 or 11/11/11 if you plan ahead. There is also 9/10/11 for grabs.

Since prime is so hip and relevant this year, I suggest we should start using it more outside the context of mathematics, prime ministers, and ribs.

This year’s Oscar ceremony hosts — James Franco and Anne Hathaway — are undoubtedly two sexy primes, while the Oscars (and Superbowl) winners could be referred to as lucky primes. And who would argue that Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are Titanic primes?

Tom Brady, what can we say about him? With a #12 and the recent devastating Patriots’ loss to the Jets, he is ‘‘almost prime’’— that, believe it or not, also happens to be a math term.

With 11 (also a prime number) out of the 12 months ahead of us, there is still plenty of time to make this year a very happy and important prime.

A House is a House for Me Childrens Book Activity Or So She Says

Happy Tuesday everyone! I have been and will be missing in action for the next while. If you follow me in Facebook or Instagram, then you know our sweet nephew Ben passed away last week. We are either on the road traveling, or at the funeral today. A long trip from Utah to Arkansas, but completely worth it!
