9 films that had the guts to kill off Shah Rukh Khan Akshay Kumar Shraddha Kapoor early on!

9 films that had the guts to kill off Shah Rukh Khan Akshay Kumar Shraddha Kapoor early on!

What if you went to watch a movie starring Shah Rukh Khan only to find that the movie kills your fave movie star early on? What will be your reaction then? Shocked? Angry? A few years ago, I watched this Hollywood actioner called Executive Decision, a typical ’90s thriller that starred Kurt Russell and Steven Seagal. Now this movie is more known for killing off one of its main heroes within 40 minutes of the start of the movie. Poor Steven Seagal, one of the more popular action stars in the ’90s, was killed even before he could take on one villain. Then there is Drew Barrymore, who gets killed within 15 minutes of the start of the first Scream movie, even though she was the most popular name in the cast.

And it’s not just Hollywood movies. Bollywood movies, who loves their heroes and want to keep them alive as much as they, can also sometimes surprise us by killing of a major star, yes sometimes even Shah Rukh Khan, on whom perhaps the entire movie has been entirely promoted on. Here are 9 such movies that had the guts to kill one of its leads very early.

Bobby Deol in Players

Bobby-Deol-in-Players

In this bland remake of American heist thriller, Bobby Deol’s character of a magician and a single das, a member of Abhishek Bachchan’s rag tag team, was a character purely created for the remake. His face was also plastered all over along with the other stars in the movie during the promotions. It’s only during the interval that we realise why his character was created – he gets killed just then, when one of his team (Neil Nitin Mukesh) double crosses. His death was supposed to give more emotional edge to the team later revenge actions.

Akshay Kumar in Family: Ties of Blood

family9_10x7

After getting  a lot of praise for his performance in Khakee, Akshay Kumar was again roped in by Rajkumar Santoshi to be one of the leads in his next, and he was in prominence along with Amitabh Bachchan during the promotions. Unfortunately for his fans, Akshay Kumar gets killed mid-point, giving the opportunity of Aryeman Ramsay to play the hero of the film. Well, if your dad is the main investor, you can be the main hero while riding on the names of the others. Needless to say the film tanked!

Shilpa Shetty in Baazigar

Shilpa Shetty and Kajol were promoted as the heroines of this Abbas Mustan thriller giving us the idea of a love triangle involving Shah Rukh Khan. However when SRK shockingly pushes Shilpa Shetty from a rooftop to her death down, it was a moment that no one will ever forget. Poor Shilpa Shetty, this was supposed to be her debut film.

Shah Rukh Khan in Dushman Duniya Ka

Dushman_Duniya_Ka_1996_DVDRip_By_tamercome008

After killing of Shilpa Shetty in the previous film, Shah Rukh Khan has to get his comeuppance, right? So there is Mehmood-directed Dushman Duniya Ka, whose posters had both SRK and Salman Khan featured prominently even though both had cameos in the film. On top of it, Shah Rukh Khan, dressed for some reason as Mehmood from Gumnaam, gets killed within the first fifteen minutes of the film.

Paresh Rawal in Aan: Men at Work

hqdefault

Paresh Rawal was on a roll in the mid ‘2000s after his successful comic turns in Hera Pheri, Hungama and Awara Pagal Deewana. So it was not wrong on the part of the marketing team of this Madhur Bhandarkar cop drama to feature Paresh Rawal along with the movie’s other leads – Akshay Kumar, Suneil Shetty and Shatrughan Sinha. So it was shocking to see when the funnyman gets killed so early during an encounter scene, suddenly making the film so serious.

Sanjay Kapoor in Shakti The Power

If you have observed the trailer carefully, you would know that Sanjay Kapoor’s character in the movie is not gonna last long. However, if you had been more obsessed by the romantic track, Hum Tum Mile in the movie, you would have been shocked to see the actor getting killed so early in the movie, even though he was poised as the hero to Karisma Kapoor, triggering the main plot. And just when you nearly overcome the shock of his death, comes the death of the real reason why you even try watching this brutal shocking drama – Shah Rukh Khan.

Suneil Shetty in Qayamat

full-cast-of-qayamat-city-under-threat-actors-and-actresses-u1

In this Bollywood remake of the Sean Connery – Nicholas Cage thriller, Suneil Shetty, a major Bollywood star once before his semi-retirement, took on the role played by Michael Biehn, of an army commando out to catch two terrorists using Ajay Devgn’s depressed (or drugged, I really can’t make out) ex-convict. And like Biehn’s character in the original, even Suneil Shetty’s doesn’t have the opportunity to survive the interval point.

Abhishek Bachchan in Shootout at Lokhandwala

shootout-2007-9b

Even though Sanjay Dutt and Vivek Oberoi were the main leads in the film, Abhishek Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan were also featured prominently in the posters, even though they had just cameos in the film. Abhishek’s case is sadder, since his character is involved in a subplot that has nothing to do with the main plot, and he doesn’t even survive that five minutes allocated to him.

John Abraham, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Irrfan Khan in Saat Khoon Maaf

lnTQctJcTVLr7pQsrO48BQ4VKbD

Yes, we knew beforehand that Priyanka Chopra was going to kill all her husbands in the movie, but it was still shocking to see three big stars, Neil Nitin Mukesh (yes, he was then…), John Abraham and Irrfan Khan, not surviving the first half of the film, while debutant Vivaan Shah turns out to be the lone survivor.

Shraddha Kapoor in Ek Villain

shraddha-kapoor-latest-photos-from-ek-villian-movie-7985

If you had not seen the original Korean gory crime thriller, I Saw The Devil, I bet you would have been shocked to see Shraddha Kapoor getting killed in the start of the film itself by a surprisingly creepy Riteish Deshmukh.

7 reasons why THIS is the best time to be a Shah Rukh Khan fan

7 reasons why THIS is the best time to be a Shah Rukh Khan fan

Dear Zindagi continues to mesmerise viewers all over as the movie enters its second week. And for those who were ready to write Shah Rukh Khan after the disappointing performance of Dilwale and FAN, well, they will be eating their words now. Agreed that Dear Zindagi is no Sultan-like blockbuster, but it was never promoted in that way. For such a mass entertainer-like performance, wait for Raees that comes in January. Dear Zindagi can be SRK’s smallest film in years when it comes to the movie’s budget, and therefore the business it is making is enough for the movie to be called a success.

Well, if you thought as a SRK fan, you can be satisfied with how his latest film has met with such a glowing reception, you would be surprised to see Salman Khan unveil the first look of Shah Rukh Khan‘s untitled movie with Anushka Sharma on Twitter. As expected, both the promotional move as well as the poster got an overwhelming response. And just when we are yet to recover from the euphoria of seeing that poster, SRK pulls another trick card from his sleeve, as he released a special video announcement for the trailer of Raees, that’s coming out on December 7. The announcement video itself had some unseen scenes from Raees, that left us asking for more. Oh, why does December 7 feel so far away?

So with three things happening back to back with regards to King Khan and his movies, here’s why we feel it is the best time to be a Shah Rukh Khan fan. Statutory Warning: No Salman Khan fan was hurt while writing this piece.

At 51, SRK  is looking hotter than ever

They say age is just a number. After watching SRK charm the audience with his bearded appearance, mesmerising twinkling eyes, and that dimpled smile playing Dr Jehangir Khan in DZ, we finally agree to that adage. Mr Khan does know how to age gracefully. Or is he even aging at all?

A movie, a first look and a trailer all together…what more do we want?

200 (1)

While we have to wait for days for our superstars to give us a proper update about their upcoming movies, Shah Rukh Khan has just unveiled the first look of his upcoming movie, while prepping us for the trailer of his other future project. This is when his movie has just released and is running successfully at the theatres. I mean, as a Shah Rukh Khan fan, what more do you want?

Dear Zindagi worked, didn’t it?

OCyOKYkMjldGo

As an SRK fan myself, I was terribly disappointed with how Dilwale and FAN, two very exciting movies for me, finally turned out to be. So it was expected that these two movie will underperform at the box office, and there were loud whispers that SRK is no longer the force majeure that he was before. However Dear Zindagi worked surprisingly, despite it being an Alia Bhatt movie and SRK being in a supporting role. Even though I am not completely impressed by the movie, DZ’s positive reception is enough to get us more excited about Raees. Speaking of which…

Finally we have something in Raees to give takkar to Sultan

daring_071715103909

Sultan is the biggest hit of 2016 (unless Dangal manages a coup), and it made nearly every Salman Khan fan happy with its masala elements. As for Shah Rukh Khan, FAN may have flopped, but Dear Zindagi is running successfully. But it is neither a mass entertainer nor has the potential to be competition to Sultan in any way. For that we have to wait for Raees. Going by the first teaser that came more than a year ago and its recent announcement video, Shah Rukh Khan has a potential blockbuster in hand that could take on Sultan’s BO business heads on. We are so excited for its release!

No longer Rahul, he is Jug, Miyanbhai and a dwarf

tumblr_nrl9yussFB1s88ak5o4_500

Shah Rukh Khan has often been accused of sticking to Rahul and Raj kinda roles by his detractors. Well, from 2016, you can never accuse him of doing so anymore. Even though FAN was a flop, it had SRK being a part of a movie where he does everything except romance. Dear Zindagi put him and Alia Bhatt in a frame, made us saw how good they look together but refrained from showing them as a romantic pair, which could be a first for an SRK movie. In Raees, he is a ganglord, Miyaanbhai, a man with grey shades, and you know SRK rocks in such characters. Even though his movie with Anushka Sharma is romantic in nature, it’s an Imtiaz Ali movie, so the romance will be very underrated here. And he is playing a freaking dwarf in Aanand L Rai’s next!

Imtiaz Ali and Aanand L Rai =

ezgif.com-0f208fe61b

After pleasing his friends Farah Khan and Rohit Shetty by working in Happy New Year and Dilwale, SRk is now ready to work with new and exciting directors. While his attempt with Maneesh Sharma (FAN) may have gone awry, Gauri Shinde proved lucky for him. Now his upcoming movies are all directed by acclaimed directors – Raees with Rahul Dholakia (Parzania) and those untitled movies with Imtiaz Ali (Jab We Met, Rockstar, Highway) and Aanand L Rai (Tanu Weds Manu, Raanjhanaa).

Shah Rukh -Salman = Bhai Bhai

salman-srk1-7591

Both Salman and Shah Rukh have let go off their petty egos and have become good friends. Shah Rukh Khan rescheduled the release of Raees to avoid clash with Sultan. Both went cycling together, they promote each other’s movie, and now Salman has even unveiled the first look of SRK’s untitled movie with Imtiaz Ali. Now there are reports that they will host the next Star Screen Awards. So if these two stars can get along as good friends, why not their warring fans? Let the Bhaichara spread to the fan clubs as well. Or should we wait for Rakesh Roshan to announce Karan Arjun Phir Se?

So do you agree that now is the best time for being a Shah Rukh Khan fan?

20 pictures of Shah Rukh Khan that beautifully trace the Khantastic journey of his family over two decades

20 pictures of Shah Rukh Khan that beautifully trace the Khantastic journey of his family over two decades

Shah Rukh Khan and his family is ruling the internet today. The Khantastic family has posed for a family portrait and the pictures are unimaginably marvellous. This is the first time in years that all the Khans – SRK and wife Gauri, with kids Aryan, Suhana and AbRam – have been captured in one single frame. The pictures belong to a book by Gauri Khan narrating the Contemporary Design and Living. The book also involves a glimpse into Gauri’s own life including the, now viral, pictures. The loyal fan base of SRK has been reposting the pictures since they have come out.

No seriously! These two pictures are ruling Instagram right now.

The family looks absolutely adorable, and charming in the latest pictures. And out of our love Shah Rukh Khan we could not stop going through all of his family pictures through the years. I mean if you also are not doing the same, are you even eligible to be called a true-blue SRK fan? We gotta say Shah Rukh and Gauri have aged like fine wine. From one of their first photoshoots together to this most recent one, they have been showered with all the happiness in the world. Their family grew to 5 members with the arrival of the youngest, AbRam, 3 years ago, and just when you thought the Khan family could not get any cuter -it did. This is how SRK started his journey with Gauri. Just two of them against the world.

Then came Aryan in their life, making their family grow bigger and happier.

Aryan didn’t like facing the camera much, and he still continues that. Though loved tagging along dad everywhere.

He also made his debut on the screen and SRK bowled fans over. Yep, that little kid who played younger SRK in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is Aryan.

Then Suhana came along. She was born in 2000, making the female team stronger in the Khan family.
