5 Tips to help you Plan your Next Presentation

5 Tips to help you Plan your Next Presentation

“Presentation is the ‘Killer Skill’ we take into the real world. It’s almost an unfair advantage.”– The McKinsey Mind.
If youve followed this blog long enough, youll know that I am big on presentation skills. I completely agree with McKinsey when they call presentation, the killer skill. If youre a salesman, you can make an impressive pitch. If youre a teacher, you can deliver a memorable lecture. If youre a technocrat, you can make an effective point to your clients. If youre an exec, you can appeal to your employees. If youre a keynote speaker, you can do what Steve Jobs does. The list is endless! An effective presentation is often the edge that your core skills need.

So what goes into an effective presentation? I want to examine this in a series of posts. In todays post I want to touch upon the first step to an effective presentation -- planning. This is before you slam in your first slide. This is where you start to think of your story and how you will present it. I have a few tips thatll help you create a compelling story for your show.

Dont Start at the Computer

This has got to be the most common mistake of all time and its one of the six mistakes you should never make as a presenter. I find it very awkward to plan my presentation on slideware. I say so, because when my first step is Powerpoint or Keynote, then I end up context switching amongst the following jobs:
  • crafting my story;
  • deciding how i spread the story over slides;
  • finding the right images;
  • and dealing with every challenge the program throws at me.
To avoid this, I like to avoid the computer at the first step. As presentation guru Garrey Reynolds says, "One way to ensure that your computer and software applications remain great tools to amplify your ideas and your presentation is to first turn off the computer and walk away from it. Youll be back soon enough."

Plan on Paper

So if you dont start at the computer, where do you start? I like using low-tech, hi-touch tools like index cards, stickies, whiteboards and good old writing pads. Garrey reynolds calls this planning analog as against planning digital on the computer. These tools are highly flexible. If I dont like what Ive done, all I do is rip the paper apart and try again. During this phase, I try to do one or more of the following things.
  • I decide how Ill deliver the presentation. I like telling stories over providing a collection of facts. So at this stage I decide what my storyll look like and how itll progress through various stages of my talk.
  • I like to get some details nailed down at this stage of planning. I try my best to create a topic map from my story. This helps me understand what parts of the topic Ill cover at each stage of the story.
  • If possible, I like to do some storyboarding at this stage. For this, I lay down index cards and try to sketch out as many slides for my talk as possible. In this video, youll see an example of how I do my storyboards.

Think of 3 Key Points

You may have heaps to say about your topic. Nothing wrong with that, except that people can only remember so much. To craft a memorable message, its a good idea to structure your presentation around no more than three key points. I usually let my audience know right up front, "In todays session, well touch upon three things...". Once Ive done this, then I keep coming back to this list of three so I can keep reinforcing the message in my audiences memory. Take a look at the examples in the above image. They are from real presentations and though my style could do with a little more variety, youll see that each talk focusses on three main topics which I can keep coming back to during my presentation.

The Grandma Test

Being complicated and difficult to understand is no longer fashionable. The acid test for your plan is if you can take your story to your grandmother and she can understand what youre saying. Well, if you think thats a stretch then you need a patient wife. My wife listens to all my stories and interrupts me when she doesnt understand something. If she doesnt understand, then thats a signal for me to simplify my message.

Theres something I want to say about statistics at this point. We seem to be obsessed about presenting statistics in our presentations. We use complex charts and graphs in presentations as if people can glean all the details in a few split seconds. Most charts, tables or graphs have one key point that we want to drive home. If thats really the case, then why not present just that key point? I was recently watching Steve Jobs announcing iPhone OS 4.0. Steve presented a lot of statistics in this talk, but its an education to see how he presents these numbers. A few things Jobs does really well:
  • He doesnt present more than one number at a time.
  • Whenever he has to, he provides context for statistics. Its meaningless to say how many applications there are for the iPhone. Its meaningful to say how this compares with the competition. For more inspiration on how you can do this, take a look at Shift Happens. No wonder it has close to a million views!
  • Jobs uses visuals to convey his message effectively. Take a look at how he uses colour contrast and simple imagery to make his statistics stand out. This is something you and I can do. All that it takes, are simplicity, restraint and naturalness.

I have another example about presenting statistics - Jamie Olivers TED prize talk. Its one of the best presentations Ive seen in a long, long time. Jamie presents statistics and yet he doesnt. He talks about how American families eat unhealthy food, but instead of showing food consumption charts he shows a video of an American mother with all her junk food on the table. Definitely more compelling than a chart. He talks about how children dont know about vegetables. He could have shown education statistics, but instead he shows a video of children failing to recognise vegetables in school. The most memorable part of his talk is when he explains how much sugar children have, just from milk. He doesnt present statistics, he brings in a wheelbarrow of sugar to make his point. Now thats what people will remember!

So, let me come back to where I started. If your plan is to use a chart or graph in your presentation, then show it to your grandmother or wife. If you can make an impact on them, then youre OK. If not, please reconsider your plan!

The Catastrophe Test

If youve planned analog, thought of three key points to hang your presentation around, and been able to convince grandma about your point, then you need to undergo the catastrophe test before you get into Powerpoint, Keynote or Prezi. Whats the catastrophe test? Well, its simply a test for you to deliver your presentation without any electronic tools. Why should you do this? Remember Murphys law?

"Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong."

What if the projector fails? What if your computer misbehaves on the day of the presentation? What if you realise on the day of the presentation that slides are not the way to go? Youve got to be prepared, right? So I like preparing for the worst. Thats my catastrophe test. If I know my story like the back of my hand, then slides are just another way to visualise it. If I know my story well, then I can also move quickly when designing my slides. So try this out -- see if you can use your paper based plans to talk in front of a mirror. If you can, then youve got most of your presentation nailed.
If you can pay heed to these five pieces of advice when you plan your presentation, designing it will become almost a mechanical exercise. You may feel that this planning phase is tough, and you may well be right. This will take some time. This will however, save you time when you create your slides. Its also likely to make your audiences time worthwhile, because youre less likely to drone and more likely to tell an engaging story. What do you think? Do my tips make sense? Theyve certainly worked for me, but Im keen to know how you feel about them. Let me know by commenting on this blogpost. In my next Mondays post, Ill cover off a few tips for effective presentation design.

10 reasons why your Wi Fi is so slow and how to fix it

10 reasons why your Wi Fi is so slow and how to fix it

wifi

Wi-Fi is the way of the world now. It is the invisible friend who comforts us, allows us to rock on Netflix in bed, and equips us to work from anywhere at any time. Wi-Fi is pretty much a necessity these days. Sometimes, however, the relationship becomes sour - especially when Wi-Fi slows down at a pace. When you depend on Wi-Fi, speed problems can be harmful. Unfortunately, speed issues are not always easy to diagnose due to Wi-Fi operation. An unknown variable could potentially reduce your Wi-Fi speed in half, so its important to know what to look for when something goes wrong not. Knowing this, we can now explore some of the lesser-known reasons why your Wi-Fi is so slow - and the best ways to solve these problems.

Router_positioning_High_low
1. Router positioning: High vs low

Most people underestimate the importance of choosing a good place for a Wi-Fi router. Even a small change in positioning could end up being the difference between day and night.

If you are like most people, you probably unpacked your new router, located at the exit of the reasonable location, plugged in, and simply left on everything that was nearby: a shelf, desk, or even floor. As it stands, the routers height makes a difference.

This means that your router leaving on the ground or other objects behind usually results in significantly worse performance. Instead, put the router as high as possible to extend the range of broadcast waves. This also makes it possible to remove the router from possible interferences.

2. Router positioning: Concrete & metals

Materials such as concrete and metal tend to be the worst for blocking Wi-Fi waves, but even objects from other materials can hinder the high wireless performance. Make sure that your router is not blocked by other objects, especially electronic devices.

Also, avoid placing your router in your basement as this area is usually surrounded by a lot of concrete, which can be almost impossible for Wi-Fi signals to penetrate.

3. Router positioning: Distance to router

The further away you are from your router, the lower the Wi-Fi signal. Therefore, the best option is to place your router as close to your devices as possible, but this is only convenient if you have a main area where you tend to use your devices.

Otherwise, you should place your router near the center of your house. After all, Wi-Fi broadcasts 360 degrees, so it does not make sense to put it at one end of the house.

However, if your router is particularly weak or your home is particularly large, you may need to increase the range of these Wi-Fi waves by using Wi-Fi extensions or repeaters. These are auxiliary devices that connect to the Wi-Fi network. Router and "repeat" the signal so that it covers more surface.

If you want to get really scientific on your router site, take a look at this project from a doctoral student and download the application to try it out for yourself.

4. Wireless interference & noise

You probably have never noticed, but there are wireless signals everywhere you go and they go through you all the time. From where? Electronic devices, Wi-Fi routers, satellites, cellular towers, etc.

Information designer Richard Vijgen has created "The Architecture of Radio" - available on iOS and Android - that uses public information on satellites and cell towers, as well as Wi-Fi information, to create a map of All the invisible signals around you. I tried this out and you can see the results of my essay in the screenshot above.

Although Wi-Fi is assumed to be on a different frequency than most of these devices, the amount of radio noise may still cause interference.

5. Microwaves can cause interference

Did you know that microwave ovens can cause interference with your Wi-Fi network? Especially with older routers. This is because microwave ovens operate at a frequency of 2.45 GHz, which is incredibly close to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band.

Specifically, the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band actually broadcasts between 2.412 GHz and 2.472 GHz, there are times when the frequency of microwaves can overlap with the Wi-Fi frequency - and when this occurs, Transferred data is disrupted.

Most microwaves are properly protected so that no waves should be detected outside the oven, but when there is a faulty or bad shield, this is where interference may occur.

6. Wireless interference: Bluetooth devices

It turns out that another preferred type of wireless connection - Bluetooth - also happens to operate at 2.4 GHz. In theory, a properly designed device must be shielded in a manner that prevents interference.

In addition, in order to avoid the frequency clash, Bluetooth manufacturers use frequency hops, which is where the signal rotates randomly between 70 different channels, changing up to 1,600 times per second. Newer Bluetooth devices may also have the ability to identify "bad" or currently in use channels and avoid those.

But interference can still occur, so try to move the router away from Bluetooth devices (or at least turn them off) to see if this is the cause of your problems - especially if they are older Bluetooth devices without management channels.

Wireless_interference_Christmas_lights

7. Wireless interference: Christmas lights

Fairly funny, Christmas lights (or fairy lights) can be a misguided guilty by slowing down your Wi-Fi because these lights can emit an electromagnetic field that interacts with your Wi-Fi band. This is especially bad when you Use lights with the ability to blink.

You are not even safe with modern LED lights because some of them have flashing chips built into each lamp, and these create an interfering electromagnetic field.

In reality, all other types of lights can cause interference by emitting electromagnetic fields like this, but the effect is almost negligible in most cases. However, you must keep your router away from electric lights just in case.

Check_Channel_interference

8. Check for Channel interference

A modern world truth is that every household has its own Wi-Fi network, which can cause problems with channel overlap. This can be somewhat problematic in a townhouse but is particularly problematic in residential complexes and apartments where there may be a lot of routers nearby.

Channel overlap is mostly a problem for routers that can only broadcast at 2.4 GHz, or if you have devices that can not receive a 2.4 GHz wireless signal. Why? Because there are only 14 channels to broadcast on. Two routers broadcasting on the same channel at the same frequency will interfere.

This is why it is important that you choose a good channel in your router settings. Modern routers can automatically choose channels for you, but it is sometimes best to explore and find the best channel yourself.

In addition, people can try to get on your network without your knowledge, and this can also slow down your Wi-Fi. The most important thing you can do about this is to make sure your router does not A password easy to break. Also, keep your router up to date and perform regular checks on suspicious devices on your network.

Prioritize_network_traffic

9. Prioritize network traffic

Have you ever left a massive download running on your PC? Well, in this case, you are probably the cause of your own slow Wi-Fi. Downloading large files can take a long time on your Wi-Fi performance. Sometimes this can not be avoided - updates Of the operating system can be huge, for example - but if you are performing tasks that are not urgent, try to stop them.

More likely, however, is that people on your network - like friends, roommates or family members - participate in the bandwidth of heavy activities like Netflix games and streaming. Fortunately, if this is the case, you can prioritize your own network traffic by enabling quality of service in your router settings.

Water_can_slow_down_radio_waves

10. Bonus fact: Water can slow down radio waves

Humans are 60% water ... and water can slow down the radio waves. Although I do not suggest that you remove all people from your home, make sure your router is kept out of the main areas where people are gathering. The impact will not be terrible, but it could be noticeable.

3 Visual Design Tips to Make Your Presentation Slides Pop

3 Visual Design Tips to Make Your Presentation Slides Pop

Cammy Bean is hilarious - and shes also just spot on. Some months back she wrote about her newly discovered syndrome - SoMeFat. My friend Neil Lasher talked about that on his blogpost to kick off the year. It feels like a bit of an epidemic to me, I tell you because I think the SoMeFat bug has reached me. Dont worry, Im advised that its a minor disorder and that I should be back to my vocal nature on all social media channels. Im also told that my upcoming three week vacation starting 21st April, will bring me back recharged. In the mean time, Im going to take the doctors advice and not blog about social media or social business today. Instead, in todays blogpost Ill share with you three tips that can really help bring your presentations alive. Of course, theres several other things you can try - all I want to do is share some interesting techniques to bring the zing back to your slides.

Use Contrast to your Advantage

Contrast is a great way to lead your audiences attention to items that deserve their attention. There are several ways of creating contrast. You could choose a variation of size, colour or shape to draw peoples attention. Youll see several presentation gurus use this trick all the time and it comes in handy when there are more than one element on the screen and you need to focus only on one of them. Take a look at some of the examples Ive put up for you above.

Build a Consistent Theme

I recently attended Tom Kuhlmanns talk at Learning Solutions 2011. Toms obviously a great practitioner of slide-based presentations and his talk last month was no exception. What I was quite interested by however, was the consistent moon theme that he adopted for his talk. You should see the slides here. The slide design actually added an element of fun and consistency to his visuals and kept me engaged. Toms made a habit of using a consistent visual theme, and youll see that even on the presentation he did at DevLearn 2010. Actually if you look hard, youll see that several illustrious presenters use this approach as well. Take a look at this presentation by Garr Reynolds and also this one. And while youre at it, dont miss Guy Kawasakis enchantment, though I know one of the viewers found it disappointingly predictable!

Use Hand Drawn, Organic Graphics

One of the trends Ive seen in recent years, is that of hand-drawn graphics. While Garr Reynolds did a bit of it in this presentation, I see it being more prevalent these days with a lot of us wanting to stamp our personalities with custom graphics. And what can be more custom than a hand-drawn picture? Take a look at Richard Lees entertaining Pecha Kucha talk to get an idea of how you can use this style effectively. Ive also added one of my presentations to this post (nothing really confidential), so you can see how some of this applies for real, business presentations. And by the way, if you were scared of sketching stuff out by yourself, theres help. The Articulate community has some really cool hand-drawn assets for download. If you do feel like sketching things up, its quite easy - buy yourself a pen tablet and then just use Powerpoint as Dan Roam recommends. And if you have something like an iPad, then there are free tools like Adobe Ideas that are so simple that even I can draw!

So, I hope that you like this little break from social media and that these tips help you improve your presentations in some small way. By the way, I am going on holiday from 21 April as I already mentioned. I am taking a three week break from blogging during that time unless theres some way I can find an internet connection and the motivation to write during that time. I do promise to come back and spew my thoughts on this blog as usual when Im back, so hang in here if you do like the blog. Until next week - tada!

5 Healthy ‘Shots’ To Alkalize Your Body in the Morning

5 Healthy ‘Shots’ To Alkalize Your Body in the Morning

In the morning, we feel a little, well … less than stellar. Achy, stiff, the bed is calling our name to stay in, and let’s be honest, we just don’t feel so hot. While most of us do enjoy some coffee in the morning, before we head to the glorious pot or French press (or Starbucks for some of you), we should pause and make an effort to enjoy something else right beforehand.
The body is naturally very acidic in the morning because as it cleanses itself overnight. As we give it a break from food and allow our organs to rejuvenate so we can feel our best the next day, all the wastes from the previous day (or even days before that) make their way through our system. This is nature’s way of making us feel brand new, but first thing, the body can feel a little lifeless.
The answer to this is to consume a high-quality, alkaline drink the morning, but you don’t need a huge amount to reap the benefits. That’s why we’ve called these healthy options below “shots” but not the ones you’re thinking of—sorry!

These alkaline shots are so powerful in their ability to promote energy, an alkaline body, eliminate inflammation, an erratic stomach, and achy muscles, that you’ll feel it almost seconds, and especially minutes, after you drink them. Just 2-4 ounces of these is all you need and you’ll be set for the day. Making these fast and easy shots a practice in your day is a healthy habit that takes under five minutes that anyone can do.
Try these five…

1. Straight ACV

This is the fastest, and possibly, laziest yet powerful, option of them all. Apple cider vinegar, coined ACV, is nature’s most alkaline, probiotic-rich beverage that can relieve so many ailments in a small serving. Muscle pain, headaches, sluggish digestion, and just a general acidic feeling can all disappear in mere seconds after you have some ACV. To make a shot, combine 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar with 2-4 ounces of water (depending on how much you want), add a few ice cubes and drink. Or, just toss back 1 tsp. straight and call it a day. Your choice—you’ll benefit no matter how hard you take your ACV!

2. Lean, Mean, Green Juice

Green juice might sound like a trend you’re tired of hearing about, but it’s a very efficient, natural way to alkalize the body and improve your mood too. Rich in magnesium, vitamin C, and micronutrients that feed the body on a cellular level, green juice is an excellent remedy for achy muscles, digestion, and general inflammation. Be sure you keep your green juice simple and free of lots of sugar for the most benefits and efficiency. No one wants to clean the juicer in the morning or drink the amount of sugar equivalent in a glass of processed OJ. Make a lean, green juice with: 1 head romaine, 1 lemon, 1/2 inch ginger, and 1/2 a cucumber. Done!

3. Spirulina, Plant-Powered Green Smoothie

Green smoothies can serve as a breakfast option, or can just be simple and served before you even eat. If you’re looking to use this as a simple anti-inflammatory, alkalizing drink, just keep things simple, but add a boost with the amazing spirulina—a superfood algae that some call nature’s multivitamin. Blend 2 cups spinach with 1/4 cup frozen berries, 1 slice ginger, and a little stevia if you need some sweetness. This is filled with 10 grams of protein from the spinach, vitamin C, B vitamins, iron, and potassium to make you feel amazing first thing in the day. It’s also low-glycemic and would make the perfect breakfast if you’d like to add some plant-based protein like hemp seeds or a protein powder on the market.

4. Lemon, Cayenne, and ACV

Lemon, cayenne, and ACV are combined to create a top alkalizing shot that will make you feel incredible! Cayenne is a metabolism booster, inflammatory reducing spice that also aids in digestion, reduces pain, and can give you a similar buzz to caffeine without the crash. Lemon is a top alkalizing and cleansing food that adds sweetness and vitamin C to the already slightly sweet and tart ACV. The end result is a tonic that’s powerfully cleansing and rejuvenating. Combine the juice of a lemon, 1 tiny pinch (1/8 tsp.) cayenne, and 1 tsp. ACV in a small cup with 2 ounces of water. Add crushed ice, blend, and serve as an icy tonic that wakes you up and gets you going!

5. Ginger, ACV, and Lemon

For a tummy-helping beverage first thing in the day, go with ginger, lemon, and ACV. These three all have digestive boosting properties, but when combined are much more effective.Ginger relieves nausea, indigestion, bloating, and constipation, reduces pain in the body, and can provide natural energy. Combined with the benefits of ACV and lemon, this will settle the stomach, energize you, and provide clarity you need to start the day. A happy gut means a happier mind, and a happier you!

Do you have a favorite “shot” you like to drink first thing in the day? You can also see oursmoothies, liquid tonics, and other tips on alkalizing the body for more helpful information.

Like tiny mountains forming a rocky and rough landscape, these rings lie randomly on my desk. They were part of the graduation collection of Rianne Suk, a friend of a friend, who let me borrow a few this week. I love the references to nature in Riannes collection titled Earthly Prothesis; from the rocky shapes in which she molded the fabric around the body to the actual pieces of french chalk(these stones with marble like veins in them) left raw and unrefined on the fingers of her models. For now her pieces can be ordered upon request.

10 Tips How to Optimize Your Website Blog 2014

10 Tips How to Optimize Your Website Blog 2014

1. Include Meta and title tags. Some search engines still use Meta Keyword, Meta Description and Title tags to catalog and rank Web pages. Be sure to place a title tag at the top of each page to identify the documents overall content. You should also write an accurate Meta description tag because its often used by search engines to describe a site in search results. And dont neglect to include a Meta keyword tag to reveal the most important keywords for each page to search engine spiders. This is one Website optimization trick you do not want to overlook because Meta tags can be the key to getting "found" by search engines.> Learn How To Write Title Tags For Your Web

2. Place keywords strategically throughout your content. Having keyword-rich content is the key (pardon the pun) to performing well with search engines. Load your Home and other critical pages with important keywords, since it may be the only page indexed by some engines. If youre not sure which keywords to weave throughout your Website, try using software like WordTracker. Its one of the leading tools you can use for website optimization, and its available through a free trial.

You can learn here> How To Write A Keyword Rich Blog Post

  • Keyword research will help you to identify keywords that are high in demand and relatively low in supply. Demand is important because it makes up the number of people who use the keyword to obtain information that is related to the keyword over the internet. Supply matters because it actually represents the number of competitors for that keyword. The higher the demand, the more traffic you will receive from the keyword. The more the supply, the harder it will be to get a sufficient listing in the search engines.
  • Once youve determined the best keywords to use, place them strategically on each Web page. Focus on areas that register well with search engines, including bold headings, near the top of the page and at the end of the page. You should also embed keywords in the anchor text used to describe links, your domain name and title and Meta tags. Try to use keywords to create a theme throughout the content on your site. Search engines tend to look for a theme or common topic on a Website in an effort to deliver more relevant results for searchers.
  • Keep in mind that keyword proximity is also important. So place your keywords as closely together as possible, while making sure your sentences remain clear. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, ensure a proper keyword density or weight. This involves the proportion of keywords to the rest of the text. The greater the percentage of keywords, in relation to other text, the better.

3. Use your primary keywords in an H1 header tag near the top of your page. Google gives extra weight to text located within header tags when computing PR[citation needed]. Also use a couple of H2 tags on your page because they count as well.

4. Its always good to inspect your website after any updates, especially changing tags. It is very easy to create broken links and design flaws which may affect your search engine optimization, not to mention your traffic and revenues. You will also need to create a sitemap.xml file (generally provided for free) to submit to search engines to optimize your website.

5. Keep your content updated and provide enough content. Good Web content is a critical factor in keeping site visitors interested and coming back for more. Its also the key to higher search engine rankings. Major search engines typically require you to have at least 200 to 250 words on each Web page. So its important to include plenty of valuable content to appeal to search engines-and visitors.

  • Its also crucial to keep your Website updated with fresh content. This lets search engines know the content on your site isnt stale, plus it will keep your site appealing to visitors looking for the latest information. Granted, it can be time-consuming to keep your content updated. However, the potential benefit from this Website optimization trick makes it well worth the effort.

6. Avoid using frames if possible. Frames, which are being used less and less, enable you to split a page into pieces and section off static content to decrease download times. However, todays Websites are larger and require more dynamic elements than are feasible with frames. Having a complex frame set up, can keep you from creating a search- engine friendly Website that draws a high ranking.
  • Frames allow you to split a page into pieces and section off static content to decrease download times. However, they can cause navigation difficulties and prevent search engines from being able to access every page on your Website. You could use a site map to address this problem, but its simpler to not use frames for your Website.

7. Build incoming or back links. Building good incoming or back links can also increase your search engine ranking and Website traffic. Heres why this Website optimization trick is so crucial: Most major search engines rank Web pages based on the number and the quality of links that point to the Website (link popularity). They do so because its very difficult for Web masters to "fake" good links. As a result, link analysis gives search engines a useful means of determining which pages are good for particular topics.

  • Place links to all of your pages on your home site as well as every other page on your site in order to make it very easy for the search engine spiders to crawl your site, if possible.

8. Create a Site Map page and link to it directly from your home page. On your Site Map page place links to every other page in your website. This guarantees that every page on your website can be reached with a maximum of two mouse clicks or "link follows" by the spiders.

  • Listing your Website with relevant directories and portals is an ideal way to build valuable incoming links. You can also write articles, forum/blog posts, and testimonials and include a link pointing back to your site. In addition, you can trade links with Websites that complement yours. Just make sure theyre not competing Websites. The main objective is to link to sites that are closely related to your sites topic. If your Website is about software, for example, link only to sites relating to the topic of software.
  • As you build incoming links, keep in mind that search engines look for Websites that are useful for site visitors. If the linking structure of your Website indicates that it is helpful and informative, youll generate more favorable search engine rankings. Youll also enjoy a steady stream of targeted traffic from your link partners.

9. Use alt tags to describe your photos. If you can use a keyword or two in your alt tag that is even better, but be careful here that your alt tag accurately describes the photo or Google may consider it to be spam.

10. Validate Your HTML Code. While search engines dont care whether your HTML code is error-free, they rely on the basic correctness of the code to find out which portions of your web page to index. If your HTML code contains errors, it is possible that only portions of your web page are included in the search engines database. The errors, while undetectable in a web browser, may lead the search engine software to think that some of the text on your page is part of the HTML formatting information rather than your sites content. As a result, the search engine may ignore that text, and your web page will not be shown in its results page. (i.e.) The <! DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "Http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> Is required

4 tips to make your man want to die there

4 tips to make your man want to die there

Happy Sunday readers, am sure all the girls want to read this eheh.

So, you think you found the perfect guy. Youre clicking on the emotional front, and now you want to leave a lasting impression in the bedroom too.
So whats the big secret? Its not all about knock- his-socks-off sex. When it comes to keeping a guys interest, the way you approach sex can make all
the difference. So follow these four basic rules to keep him coming back for more.

1. Dont be a tease, but dont be a sure thing either
What many women — and men, for that matter — sometimes fail to realize is that theres a very fine line between being a tease and being playful. If you deny him gratification too often or for too long, hell probably lose interest and begin to build resentment. While there should never be an expectation of sex, once that expectation has been created, its very difficult to remove it without creating serious tension.

On the flip side, while men are inherently lazy and do love a sure thing, you also dont want us to take you for granted. Plus, if youre always available to satisfy him, hell think youre no longer a challenge (and most men love a challenge). So if you can turn down a booty call every now and then, or say no to sex sometimes when youre not really up for it, hes actually going to want to see you more and make more effort.
What she does to make you feel like "the man"

2. Make him a believer, but dont oversell it
Heres something that isnt exactly a secret: Men all like to think that theyre "the man." So, you need to make him feel like hes doing something right. I cant stress enough the importance of playing to the male ego and placating his inevitable insecurities about penis size, stamina and the ability to bring you to orgasm. So if youre not fully satisfied, dont simply fake it for his sake; instead, communicate to him about what is working and praise him for the things he does do well. When a man feels consistently insecure about his ability to please his partner, he may get the urge to duck and run. A sincere compliment here and there will keep him focused on doing better by you in bed, instead of finding someone whos easier to please.

3.  Under-promise,  over-deliver
As far as the bedroom is concerned, avoid creating false expectations at all costs. For example, no guy wants to hear about how great you are at giving fellatio if youre not going to perform it on him. And if you promise to "rock his world" and then dont? Well, youre setting him up for disappointment. Its
good to be confident, but the less you promise, the less expectation you create and the more pleasant a surprise you can be for him. And when youre a pleasant surprise, theres usually going to be an encore performance; hell want to see what else you have in your bag of tricks.

4. Desire is key
Most women think great sex is all about the performance. Now, dont get me wrong — if youre really great at something and enjoy doing it, by all means, go right ahead. But its important to remember that simply expressing a desire for your guy makes a man feel sexually powerful, and making him feel wanted will make him want you even more. So dont forget to let him know how badly you want him in as much detail as you feel comfortable with. It will be a big turn-on for him, even if you arent the most experienced or skilled at any particular act.

Prestashop is a free, secure and open source e-commerce platform, packed with over 275+ features that will run on just about any web server.
If this isn’t enough to convince you to give it a shot, we’re going to run through 10 reasons to use Prestashop for your e-commerce store.
If you have never heard of Prestashop, you should visit our What is Prestashop? post for a quick run through of what you’re missing out on.
These reasons are by no means the only reasons to use Prestashop. Merchants needs will vary from store to store but I have yet to come across an e-commerce store that could not be run on Prestashop.

1. It’s Open source

Being open source means Prestashop means you can use, change and distribute in whichever way you see fit. If you’re an agency or designer looking for an e-commerce platform then Prestashop could be for you.
You could potentially, and quite easily, use Prestashop as a white label e-commerce platform for your client projects.

2. Prestashop Themes and Modules

Prestashop Theme Example
Prestashop Themes and Modules allow you to completely change the look and feel of your store, often for free. You should see our Free Prestashop Themes and Templates post if you’d like to see whats out there.
If you’re willing to put in the time yourself to create something bespoke for your store, this is also very easy to do. Take a look at our Prestashop Theme inspiration gallery, or Matthew Morek’s Prestashop Module Boilerplate to get started creating Prestashop Themes and Modules right away.

3. Prestashop Overrides

Prestashop overrides allow developers to overwrite Prestashop’s core functionality, safe in the knowledge that their changes are not overwritten when Prestashop updates.
You can override Prestashop modules as well as Prestashop’s controllers and classes.
If you’re familiar with WordPress’ filter system this is quite similar.
As a merchant this might sound like nonsense to you, but it means that if a feature is not on your store, a developer can effectively create any feature you wish.

4. Prestashop 1.5

Though the current version, Prestashop 1.4 has been a big success including guest checkout, one page checkout and many more features, but Prestashop 1.5 is just around the corner.
Prestashop 1.5 will bring multi-stores, a better back office interface, processing orders through the admin interface and much more. We wrote about Prestashop 1.5?s upcoming features recently. Now looks like an exciting time to get onboard with using Prestashop.
