14 year old boy rapes 9 year old girl to death

14 year old boy rapes 9 year old girl to death

The police in Lagos State have commenced investigation into how a nine-year-old girl died, after sustaining injuries caused by alleged consistent rape. According to police authorities, the deceased was raped over five times, by a 14-year-old student, Onyi Adimabua, in the Ikorodu area of the state. The father of the deceased, Simeon Jigo, told Punch Metro that Onyi is the son of the proprietor of the school his daughter attended. He said his daughter opened up about the rape when she started having medical problems. The 77-year-old man said his daughter died on October 3, 2013.He said,

“Up until my daughter’s death, she was a pupil of Fulfilled Greenland School, Ikorodu, and she was in primary three. One day, she came home and started complaining of pains around her vagina, stomach area. We rushed her to Ikorodu General Hospital.“A doctor checked her and after conducting some tests on her, told us that my daughter had sustained medical complications due to forced sexual intercourse. I was alarmed by this; so, I had a private discussion with my daughter.“She told me that it was her school proprietor’s son, Onyi, that had been raping her. The boy had threatened to kill her if she ever told anyone about it.”

The indigene of Ondo State told PUNCH Metro that after initial treatments, he took his daughter to Arogbo in Ondo State to be taken care of but her condition continued to deteriorate.A few days after the troubled father travelled to Ondo State, Onyi, accompanied by his parents, also travelled to Ondo State, to apologise to Jigo’s family. The girl, however, was said to have died that very day.
“On getting to the house where my daughter was, we discovered that she was dead. Onyi confessed that he had been raping my daughter prior to her death,’ Jigo said.
PUNCH Metro learnt that after the girl’s demise, irate youths in the area attempted to lynch the 14-year-old boy.The bereaved father was said to have intervened and reported the matter to a nearby police station, where the teenager was held for safe keeping. The next morning, Onyi and his parents travelled back to Lagos. The alleged rapist’s parents, in company with a chief in Ikorodu, reportedly visited Jigo when he returned to Lagos. The group were said to have pleaded that the bereaved father should not pursue the case but he refused.Jigo said,
“I went to the Ikorodu Police station to report the case but was surprised when the policemen on duty said I should not write any statement.  They only told me to write down my telephone number and said they would call me later.“After waiting for many days without any call, I wrote a petition and the matter was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.”
It was however learnt that Onyi had been taken to his father’s hometown in Delta State thereby stalling police investigation. The teenager’s parents,  however described the incident as the handiwork of the devil. The 14-year-old boy’s father, Andrew Adimabua, said,
“I trained that boy in the way of the Lord and expected so much from him. He has confessed to the act; there is nothing to hide. He told me that he learnt about sex by watching blue (pornographic) films.“We are not hiding him and we will cooperate with the police. On the day the little girl died, he was beaten up and made to stay in the rain for hours. As a result, he contracted pneumonia so we sent him home for treatment. When he recovers, he’ll be taken to the police for questioning.”
Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone, expressed shock at the development.Braide said Onyi would be re-arrested in the course of investigation.“It is appalling that a teenager could indulge in such act. The matter is under investigation and the culprit will be re-arrested.”

A Letter to Myself One Year Later

A Letter to Myself One Year Later

Dear 24 year old-August of 2013-Liz,

It has been precisely one year since wrote that blog post. That blog post was the beginning. The beginning of you understanding that you needed to change your life. And you have. Your life has changed 100% since then.

Get ready.

"I Dont Want To Die a Dreamer"

To break you in easily, I will start with work.

You finally left that job. It was inevitable, and I think you always knew that. You resigned when you obtained a position in uptown Charlotte for a real estate company. You put a deposit on a brand new apartment that was only a block away from your new job. You are going to be able to walk to work, and not have to worry about gas or parking, plus get to experience uptown life. You were really, really excited.

Except it did not happen that way.

You were starting this new job on a Tuesday, and the weekend before, you stayed at papa and grandmas. You and grandma were going to spend the day together shopping on Sunday to find you the perfect wardrobe for your new position. Ten minutes after you and grandma left to go shopping, your cell phone rings. Its the president of the company. Your job offer was rescinded due to budget cuts and immediate staffing changes the company had to implement.

With a 3 minute telephone call, you became unemployed, lost that brand new apartment, and had to start from scratch without any certainty regarding the direction you were going in.

But thats okay. You are a survivor and you can get through anything. You always have and you will always will. That was just a warm-up for what was to come, anyway.

You cried and sulked that afternoon, then hit the ground running. You sent your resume to over 300 places; even if they werent hiring. It quickly paid off. The next Monday you had an interview with a man named John at successful company in the Ballantyne Corporate Park (your favorite place!). You clicked with him instantly and he even made the comment that he liked your spunk. He offered you the job Wednesday and you started Friday. The best part? It pays quite a bit more than the job you initially received and provides full benefits and 401k.

You love your job and feel like you were meant to be there. Looking back, receiving that telephone call that the other job fell through was the best thing to happen to you. Your boss believes in you, gives you immense creative freedom, and provides just enough direction for you to grow, but still be independent. You work long, hard hours, you are constantly interrupted all day everyday while doing your work, always get thrown into meetings, you plan events and office functions constantly, and multitasking has never been so chaotic. You love every minute of it though.

You find another apartment. You move back to the apartment complex that you lived in when you rented your very first apartment. Its 2 miles away from your job and the 5 minute commute every morning is wonderful. Because of your financial situation you are able to get a spacious one-bedroom apartment that is almost 900 square feet! Since you are back at that apartment complex, you join LA Fitness again and your apartment building happens to be right beside of it. You and Kel are back to your old routine of training together everyday after work.

Youre home, Liz. You are home. Remember when you had to abruptly change your life at the end of 2012 and everything was just a freaking mess? Well, 2013 is a mess too. You know that by now. It calms down, though. You are back in the Ballantyne area; your favorite place to be. The only place that has ever felt like home.

Where does all of this leave your relationship though?

You are not with him anymore. And I wish I could tell you that you let go and never look back, but you dont. You never will. You love him far too much for it to ever be that easy; whether he deserves it or not. You knew you needed to leave though. You did not want too, but you had too. You are brave for that. That will happen November 1st. Its going to be hard. You are going to cry yourself to sleep so many nights. You are going to lie awake in bed and ache for his presence. You are going to doubt your decisions. You are going to have panic attacks. Youre going to go through a dark period of depression. Nothing and no one can take that pain away. You are just going to have to be strong and pull through. Allow yourself to hurt and accept the pain so you can move on.

You dont stop loving him and you never will. You know how you are. Tomorrow you are going to love him just as much as you do today. He was such a paramount part of your life; but for once you are going to love yourself more. You will have a lot of twists, turns, ups, and downs over this, but you keep going. You pray, you work hard, and you keep faith and hope alive in your heart. That is all you can do when it comes to that.

Surprisingly, the breakup is not the hardest part though. Your weight is.

You have had a rough year... and your body and health have been through a lot. This caused you to gain a lot of weight. Your job situation and relationship just added to the cause. You let yourself go, Liz. You always knew what you were doing to yourself, but you were so mentally exhausted that you did not care. You still have a few more months of gaining weight until you realize this though.

Are you ready? You are going to weigh 262 pounds before you change your life.

November 25th, 2013 is a Monday; Dads birthday (he is still hanging on, by the way). You will go to work at your fabulous new job and have a doctors appointment at 6PM for your annual physical. To kill time before your appointment, you go to Target to purchase some new clothes for work. However, nothing fits. Even a size 18 does not fit. Can you believe that? A size 18 does not fit you anymore. That is how bad it gets. You are going to break down in the dressing room, a Target employee is going to check on you, and then out of embarrassment you are going to run out of the store. Going to your doctors appointment and seeing the number on the scale right after this incident is just the icing on the cake. Thank God it was enough to push you over the edge and make you change your life.

Girl, you do it too! You have done it before and you can do it again. Except this time, you work even harder! You dig even deeper within yourself and face your inner demons head on. What is even better is that you write about it. You open yourself up and share your struggles and problems, even though they are embarrassing. That is because you are confident but humble, and it is important for you to do this to help other people. You have stuck with your blog, and made so many amazing friends. That makes it even more important to be a positive guide for someone who is roaming through the darkness that engulfed you for so long.

You love to write and you dream of that being your career. You did not want to die a dreamer, and you still dont. The difference is now you work harder than you ever have. You are down 63 pounds and have only 25 more to go. You blog at least 5 times a week. You are also well into your first book. It is not the mafia series you want to do, though. You need to dedicate much more time to research for that series. The book you are working on now is much more appropriate for you to be writing. You are healing through writing this book. Your hope is for this book is to inspire and give hope to people all across the world. There is also someone interested in being your agent and publishing companies that you have been talking too. You are being cautious though. You want this done right because it could set the foundation for the future. Keep taking your time and educating yourself. Knowledge is power. And when it comes to something like this, you need as much power as you can obtain.

Thus far 2014 has been the biggest year of your entire life. You have grown so much as a woman and as an adult. It is going to be loneliest year for you too, but you need it. You need to give up some of your social life for once and stop being so caught up in the "now". If you dont want to die a dreamer, you have to put in the work. Extraordinary dreams and goals require extraordinary effort and dedication. You are going to have to remind yourself of that almost everyday, because you do get exhausted. But keep trying. Push yourself to do the best you can every single day. That way, if you do die a dreamer, at least you tried.

I always hear the quote "You do not know how strong you are until it is the only choice you have". I disagree with that. I believe that "You dont know how strong you are until you have every reason to give up and be defeated, but you dont." You keep fighting and you keep trying. That is strength, and right now, a year later, you are fighting and trying every single day of your life.

Lastly, I want to let you know that at the end of May you are going to cut 5 inches from your hair. It is going to suck.

Oh and Robin Williams died last week. It was heartbreaking.

Love,

25 year old-August of 2014-Liz

10 Health Tips for the New Year

10 Health Tips for the New Year

Every New Year, people make resolutions to exercise regularly, eat healthy foods, quit smoking and other bad habits. According to Harvard Nurses’ Health Study, following these basic resolutions can cut heart disease risk by 80 percent, diabetes risk by 90 percent and cancer risk by 50 percent.

Here are some health tips for the New Year:

1. Aim for at least 30 minutes brisk walking. Walk or ride a bike to work or simply have at least 30 minutes of physical exercise everyday.

2. Drink more water. Drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday. Nothing beats water to cleanse our body and feel refreshed.

3. Sleep 8 hours a day.  According to the National Sleep Foundation, we need around 7 to 9 hours of sleep everyday to be able to function well. Adequate sleep makes you feel better, decreases risk for cardiovascular disease, and boosts memory.

4. Keep sugar and caffeine to a minimum. We all know that too much caffeine and sugar is bad to our health. Lessen your coffee and cut back on sweets.

5. Budget your food as you do your money. According to Nancy Clark, a registered dietician, author and sports nutritionist, watch your calorie intake. A rough guideline for daily caloric intake: Multiply your ideal body weight by 10 (i.e., 1,200 calories if you want to weigh 120 pounds) and then add another 600 calories if youre moderately active, a few hundred more if youre very active. Divide those calories out across the day to keep yourself well fed and not feel hungry in the evening.

6. If you smoke, quit. Everyone knows that smoking is bad for your health. Lessen your cigarettes per day or quit cold turkey.

7. Consider acupuncture or therapeutic massage for your back or neck pains.

8. Cut back on alcohol. Drinking in excess affects the brain’s neurotransmitters and can increase the risk of depression and memory loss, adds risk of liver and heart disease, hypertension, stroke, and mental deterioration, and even cancers of the mouth, throat, liver, and breast.

9. Cut your stress. Organize your daily activities and schedule. Worrying gives you stress; so just do your best in everything you do and not worry about the results.

10. Lastly, plan a trip somewhere. Traveling makes you feel rejuvenated and revitalized. It’s also a good way of learning and it’s healthy for the body and soul.

Have a Happy and Healthful New Year!

15 year old calls Scientology a Cult Footbullets and Police Shenanigans

15 year old calls Scientology a Cult Footbullets and Police Shenanigans

Meant to cover this as it happened but Ive been far too busy, so heres a quick overview of Scientologys latest footbullet. And a wonderful example of why "the kids today" are awesome.

May 10th: 15 year old EpicNoseGuy (ENG) goes to the London protests against scientology as part of Anonymous. (If you dont know who they are, here is an explanation). Unfortunately I couldnt make this protest, so I dont know first hand what happened. But, as covered in the Guardian ENG gets stopped by the police for this sign:

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Now, ENG seems very awesome. The old media cant understand "The Kids" today unless they are hooded thugs, so the idea of political, opinionated, knowledgeable teenagers who communicate and play out their actions on the world stage of the internet are not typically represented in the media today. Which makes this quote from the Guardian is doubly delicious.
A policewoman later read him section five of the Public Order Act and "strongly advised" him to remove the sign. The section prohibits signs which have representations or words which are threatening, abusive or insulting.

The teenager refused to back down, quoting a 1984 high court ruling from Mr Justice Latey, in which he described the Church of Scientology as a "cult" which was "corrupt, sinister and dangerous".

After the exchange, a policewoman handed him a court summons and removed his sign.
How beautiful is the part I bolded? Fucking phenomenal. And the moment they took the sign of him, Anonymous won.

Scientology is a cult, and regardless even if it wasnt calling it a cult isnt hate speech. These new laws against religious hate speech are worrying indeed.

Why did the Police stop him?

There is actually more to this than meets the eye, its a bit long winded but follow me on this one. Firstly it is important to point out that 1)  Two police forces cover the protests, In the morning City of London (CoL) police at the Scientology HQ and when Anonymous move over to the Scientology "shop" on Tottencourt Road later in the day, The Metropolitan police (Met) take over. 2) The protesters have an extremely good relationship with the Police. Ive typically seen than secretly laughing at Anonymous light hearted protesting, and Ive only heard them say nice things about them, one remarking that Anonymous are the only protesters hes ever covered that tidy up before they leave.

Now, It was CoL that served ENG. And they said this:
"City of London police had received complaints about demonstrators using the words cult and Scientology kills during protests against the Church of Scientology.

"Following advice from the Crown Prosecution Service some demonstrators were warned verbally and in writing that their signs breached section five of the Public Order Act.

"One demonstrator continued to display a placard despite police warnings and was reported for an offence under section five. A file on the case will go to the CPS."
So the City of London Police followed advice from the CPS? Ok, so what did they?
A CPS spokesman said no specific advice was given to police regarding the boys placard.

"In April, prior to this demonstration, as part of our normal working relationship we gave the City of London police general advice on the law around demonstrations and religiously aggravated crime in particular.

"We did not advise on this specific case prior to the summons being issued – which the police can do without reference to us – but if we receive a file we will review it in the normal way according to the code for crown prosecutors."
Now that doesnt fit does it? They gave general advice, and didnt advise of the use of the word cult. A term the European Court of Justice has used to describe Scientology.

So then, why might CoLs treatment of the protesters be so different to the Mets treatment (who have happily allowed signs with the C-word every month since February)?

Might it be due to the fact that The City of London Chief Superintendent, Kevin Hurley topened the head quarters? Could it be the thousands of pounds of gifts Scientology has made to the CoL and its officers?

As psychiatrist Mark Salter says:
"They are a cult who are trying to maximise their influence by putting feelers out and using spin to make contacts and network in quite dangerous ways."

Now this is only my opinion on what I think happened, but it seems to me that Scientology has a number of high up members of the CoL whove they befriended with gifts. Theyve realised that the protests werent going away, so they decided to fall back on their old strategies of suing thoe who criticise them. But theyve realised that when they do this, the whole internet lights up in outrage and they shoot themselves in the foot. This *footbullet* does more damage to them than the original protester could ever hope to do.

So they thought that if they could convince the CoL that this was hate speech they could push any backlash onto the Police when the police did something about it.

And to a certain extent they succeeded. But theyve achieved a massive footbullet in that theyve managed to galvanise the Anonymous movement. It was getting bored, and attendance was dropping. But then they pushed for this and put anonymous on the BBC news, and all over the net. For example theyve giving a youtube video advertising the next June protest over 2,000 diggs and 30,000 views.

By kicking the internet you only get its interest.

2009 The Year of the Updated Myspace!

2009 The Year of the Updated Myspace!

In an unprecedented flurry, I am about to write my second post this week. This can only be due to my new-found dedication and motivation, and is nothing to do with the fact that I dont have anything with which to fill my time because I am a) jobless and b) penniless.

Ben has lent me his loop pedal, which I have fitted to my pre-amp and then my amp, so I have been practising this evening. It was all going wonderfully until I decided to see whether I could make new effects by pressing and twisting the "flange" (yes) and turning the volume up. The effect created was one I shall henceforth call "Torment And Pain In The Belly Of The Underworld". It scared me so much that I turned everything off and scampered off into the other room, to cower at my computer for a bit. It made the room vibrate so much that a copy of Woman And Home slipped off the table (n.b. this belongs to my Grandmother, although I sometimes do still read the problem pages, so that when my children leave home or I become incontinent I will know what to do).

In other music news: I have finally updated my myspace page! After only two years I have made some changes, and added another song. It is one of the songs I recorded straight onto my computer, just layering up vocal tracks on top of one another. It was recorded in my bedroom in Brixton, so the only sound you can hear apart from my voice is that of the buses rumbling, and the sounds of people spilling out of the Brixton Academy across the road. It is not a new song, in fact I recorded that in 2007. It is still the most complex a cappella one that I have ever done.

See what you think, and please tell me. Bear in mind that I am not, nor can I ever imagine being, a producer, so the levels/length, etc, are unspeakably amateur and horrible.

It is called Do Something, and it is HERE on my myspace.

Ben has gone to Cumbria for a week, to do a week of hermit-like re-writing of his one man show. He toured with it last year, but he wants to change it, and apparently he cant do it at home, because the cat distracts him. So off he went this morning, having made me some hummus to take home with me. I was not allowed to take the cat, which I deem very unfair.

I have been making continued efforts to find gainful employment. This has involved trawling round cafés, walking up to the counter smiling in a way that I hope is not threatening and/or manic, and tacitly begging for a job. Most of them have seemed very positive, but I am wise enough to know what this means, so I am going around tomorrow, and the next day, and the next until someone lets me make coffee and tell them jokes. Today I was chatting with a friend and he mentioned that there were some jobs going. I asked what they were and he said, oh, its just on the phones, in some office, but... I cut him off. No office work. Not a chance. I will find something else. Thank you.

I have found a choir to join, which is cool. I have never been one for choirs, but the idea of singing regularly and meeting lots of people is an appealing prospect at the moment. I am also going along to the Social Media Café, which is a bit intimidating, because I know nothing about computers, not really. Im going because I am curious, and I would like to know what other people in Manchester do with their online obsessions.

It is frozen up here. The sky hangs, grey and weighty. It feels like the daylight is so fleeting, and the minute I leave the house my fingers and toes lose all feeling.

Today, though, I was walking from Bens house in Rusholme to get the bus into town. There is a tiny piece of park that serves as a shortcut, and I took it. The path was bright white amid the silver-topped scrub land. The dim light that leaked from the sky bounced from it onto my face, becoming bright and comforting. A man was coming the other way, black hood pulled up, hands pushed into his pockets. He was singing loudly, his song Indian-sounding to my naive ears. As we passed each other he grinned widely at me and did a slippery dance on the icy snow.

"Hey!" he shouted through his smile. "Its OK! You can just GLIDE!"

I laughed and carried on walking, smiling down at the frozen path.

"Yeah" I thought. "I can just glide."

I liked him, and his care-free slippery dancing. This year I resolve not to worry to so much, and free myself up to glide.

Now I am going to tentatively go back into the other room and have more loop-pedal adventures.

2013 was the Year of

2013 was the Year of

2013 was a pretty big year. Perhaps not in my film watching (which will be shown in my unofficial Top 15 thatll be posted up tomorrow morning), but there were plenty of things that I loved about this crazy year. So heres a big gigantic mess of the things that made 2013 what it was for me, some of which are movie related, most of which is culture related, and just the general happenings of 2013 that will remain landmarks for the year. Kinda like flipping through the back pages of my diary. But more interesting than my diary would be if I actually had time to keep one.

The Actors

Daniel Day-Lewis
Yup, this was definitely my biggest actor obsession of the year. Spurred off by my drama class doing The Crucible, and then turning into this big thing where all Id do with my spare time is watch his Oscar acceptance speeches over and over (I havent watched one in about three weeks - have I been rehabilitated?). All other spare time was taken up by watching all of his movies. Which brought me to the lovely My Beautiful Laundrette, the awe-inspiring My Left Foot, the rather restrained The Age of Innocence, the amazing In the Name of the Father, of course The Crucible, the gutsy The Boxer, the violent Gangs of New York, the heartbreaking The Ballad of Jack and Rose, a rewatch of There Will Be Blood which boosted my love for the film, a rewatch of Nine which dragged down my supposed love for that film, and a couple of watches of Lincoln which just exemplifies how Daniel has mastered his craft. I wish I had at least 40% of his commitment.

Bradley Cooper
This has been a banner year for Bradley Cooper, an actor who Ive long been in love with since The Hangover back in 2009. Along comes Silver Linings Playbook, which shows what Ive long known: Bradley Cooper is one talented actor who is more than just the "eye candy" status that the womans magazines like to lay on him. The Place Beyond the Pines gave him another chance to show how talented he is, and I hear that hes one of the best things about American Hustle. Hopefully The Hangover has been long left behind, and it is only up from here.

IDK, I find this photo kinda beautiful.
Jennifer Lawrence
Shes just simply one of the best people out. Even if Im still a tiny bit mad about her premature Oscar win (shoulda been J-Chas!), shes just the most genuine and talented actresses out there. How can you not love her?

Brie Larson
No, I havent seen Short Term 12, so I dont know much about the amazing performance that she apparently gives. But Im glad that people are finally taking notice of her, as I loved her in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Rampart, Tanner Hall and 21 Jump Street. From her big year, Ive only seen The Spectacular Now, and she was pretty much perfect in that. Im really kinda rooting for her to sneak in with an Oscar nod next year, even if I havent seen Short Term 12, because the girl deserves it.

Elizabeth Debicki
I cant decide whether I truly love her or if Im just insanely jealous of her. The girl graduates from college, and then lands a part as one of my favourite characters in my favourite book. And shes perfect in the role. The best thing? That her star power is only beginning, and theres plenty more thatll be popping up in so many more films in the future.

Films I saw the most this year

I must say, this was a year of rewatching more than anything else, because I simply didnt have the required brain power to be fully invested in something that wasnt school related for two hours. Which resulted in many films getting more than their fair share of my time. And here they are:

The Great Gatsby - six times. I dont even know why. I just think that Leonardo DiCaprios face tends to make me feel better about life.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower - six times. Even though it makes me cry enough tears to fill up the Pacific Ocean, I still thought it was okay to see it on six separate occasions. And I can definitely say that it still hits me as hard as it did when I first saw it on the plane to Japan.
Silver Linings Playbook - five times. Im not entirely sure of why I managed to rack up five watches of it, especially considering that I didnt like it all that much on the first watch. However, I think five might be the final limit, as my love for it is starting to wane off.
Pitch Perfect - five times. Dont judge me. Its just the perfect watching with friends movie, okay? In fact, it is just the perfect movie if you want to turn your brain off and just have something in front of you. I dig it.
Atonement - four times. I cant actually count the amount of times Ive seen this film this year, as Ive seen bits and pieces on heaps of different occasions. I can promise you that I wasnt watching it because of emotional torture: it was the film I had to study for my final English exam, so I had to do a fair bit of watching in order to unwrap enough magic to conjure up a good grade (heres hoping).
Zero Dark Thirty - three times. As I said in this post, it was interesting to have this film mirror three different stages of this year.

Music

I have about 0.1% music knowledge, and that mostly comes from the movies. However, Lorde was pretty much my favourite thing musically, with Royals probably being the song of the year. Personally, my favourite song of hers is a tie between Bravado (off The Love Club - EP) and Buzzcut Season, but I absolutely loved Tennis Court and Team and 400 Lux. Pure Heroine is an absolutely amazing album, the only problem is that it is too short. Anyway, here would be my soundtrack to 2013 (not just 2013 songs):
All of the Lights - Kanye West, Bang Bang - Will.I.Am, Black Skinhead Kanye West, Blood on the Leaves Kanye West, Blurred Lines - Robin Thicke, Burn - Ellie Goulding, Come On Eileen - Dexys Midnight Runners, Crazy In Love (Kid Koala Version) - Emeli Sande, Dog Days are Over - Florence + the Machine, Fake Plastic Trees - Radiohead, Figure 8 - Ellie Goulding, Give Me Love - Ed Sheeran, Gold Digger - Kanye West, Guns and Horses - Ellie Goulding, Halcyon - Ellie Goulding, Heroes - David Bowie, Hey Brother - Avicii, Ho Hey - The Lumineers, Hold My Liquor Kanye West, Holdin On - Flume, Into the Past - Nero, Lego House - Ed Sheeran, Lights - Ellie Goulding, Lost - Frank Ocean, On Top - Flume Feat. T-Shirt, Only You - Ellie Goulding, Over the Love - Florence + the Machine, Paradise - Lana Del Rey, Power Kanye West, Radio - Lana Del Rey, Runaway Kanye West, Same Love - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Spectrum (Say My Name) - Florence + the Machine/Calvin Harris, Super Rich Kids - Frank Ocean, Together - The xx, Tornado - Jonsi, You Need Me, I Dont Need You - Ed Sheeran, Young and Beautiful - Lana Del Rey, 100$ Bill - Jay-Z, 10538 Overture - Electric Light Orchestra

And everything else: another quick recap of my final year of school

I almost dont feel like I went to Japan earlier this year, but yes, that happened, and I was definitely all the better for the experience. And then there was Year 13 camp, which I also forget happened this year, but the everyone was better for the experience. Much of the early part of the year was dedicated to Stage Challenge, but I cant forget going to the Young Leaders conference (probably my favourite part of the year) and doing a reading at the Anzac Day Service. But yes, Stage Challenge was definitely the highlight, and definitely made me want to direct even more than I originally did. After that there were plenty of projects and speech competitions to keep me occupied, along with getting nominated for a local Youth Award and receiving a $5000 leadership scholarship from University of Canterbury. Along came a role in The Crucible which was a pretty cool experience, and then all of a sudden it was the end of the year. The final day at school was a pretty awesome day indeed. And then there were exams, the ball, and the Valedictory Speech. But one mustnt forget the local celebrity status involved in this year: being on a billboard, getting a cheeky duckface selfie with my Deputy Head Girl in the newspaper, in fact the many times I popped up in the paper, and meeting the Prime Minister, John Key. To say that this year has been well-documented is an understatement...

The top left photo is all of the papers Ive been in this year. And I kid you not, the top right photo actually happened. Probably my favourite achievement of the year.
And all of the other stuff

Remember that time I couldnt play Temple Run any more because I started thinking that it would be fun to be the guy in the game? Remember that time I was so obsessed with Candy Crush that when I closed my eyes all I could see was candy? Remember that time when caffiene continuously saved my life? Basically, this has been a year of eating too many takeaways on the go, drinking gallons of cranberry juice to get rid of a kidney infection, spending too much time cleaning the common room, and reading Indiewire like it was my bible (I love the Women & Hollywood section). There was a trip to Sydney (wah I wanna go back), there was an Ed Sheeran concert, and there was a trip to Christchurch which sealed the deal for me going to uni down there. Lets just say, that 2013 was the year of "too much", and the year where I spent most of it wanting to be Lorde. Shame Im not musically talented, though.

Anyway, stay tuned to see my unofficial 15 favourite films of the year when I wake up. But for now, what were your favourite moments of 2013?

30 Things I Learned From a Two Year Old

30 Things I Learned From a Two Year Old

One of the greatest gifts my two-year-old son has given me is the opportunity to live like a child again. I have learned to stay present, cherish simple pleasures, think creatively, and just play. Here are 30 ways to enjoy life like a child (thank you, Jake):

-Take a morning walk
-Enjoy a book filled with just pictures
-Smile and say hi to passersby
-Pick up sea shells, even broken ones
-Stop and smell the flowers (literally)
-Lie in the grass and watch the clouds
-Make a wish
-Color outside the lines
-Follow birds and butterflies
-Say I love you spontaneously and loudly
-Run just because
-Collect rocks
-Delight in the beauty of bubbles
-Wave to passing cars
-Bury your feet in the sand
-Eat with your hands and lick your fingers
-Give really tight hugs
-Walk down the street holding someones hand
-Keep found treasures
-Cry because you need to cry
-Dig in the dirt
-Run through the sprinklers
-Take an afternoon nap
-Stay in pajamas all day
-Stare off into space and daydream
-Make time for arts and crafts
-Go barefoot
-Curl up with a good book before bedtime
-Eat only the icing off a cupcake
-Find the joy in everything that surrounds you

100 Year Old Indian Runner wins Gold Medal

100 Year Old Indian Runner wins Gold Medal

100-Year-Old Man Kaur from India crossed the finish line in the 100-meter competition for old athletes within one minute & 21 seconds to claim a Gold Medal at the American Masters Games. Soon after the victory, She had a smile on her face and raised her hands in the air. In fact, She was the only female contestant in that Age category.

Other participants, who were in 70s and 80s, of American Masters Games, cheered for Man Kaur when she ran on the track. The kind of motivation this 100-Year-Old has given with her energy levels and determination is priceless.

Gurdev Singh, Son of Man Kaur, says his Mother would go back to India to tell everyone that she has won medals for her country. It was Gurdev who encouraged his Mom to start running at the age of 93.

Man Kaur has won over 20 medals in Masters Games across the Globe. Earlier, She won Gold Medals in the Javelin throw and Shot Put.
