5 ways you can help Julian Assange and WikiLeaks
1. Contact Australian politicians
Write to your Federal MP: ask them what theyre doing to help Julian Assange. If youre not satisfied with
the response, request a meeting with them: its your democratic right.
Contact relevant government members. Tell them the Australian government should:
- act as third party in negotiations for Assanges safe passage from the UK to Ecuador;
- seek written guarantees from the UK and Sweden that neither country will agree to extradite Assange to the US;
- state publicly that Assange is a journalist and should not be prosecuted by any state for his work with WikiLeaks;
- guarantee that if Assange returns to Australia he will not be extradited from here to the US; and
- PM Gillard should retract her prejudicial remarks about Assange as per the Senate resolution calling on her to do so.

2. Contact the British government
Write to the High Commissioner in Canberra asking the UK government to:
- adhere to international law and guarantee Assanges safe passage to Ecuador;
- respect the sovereignty of the Ecuador Embassy in London;
- urge the Swedish prosecutors to accept Ecuadors invitation to interview Assange about the sexual assault allegations in the embassy; and
- recognise the evidence that a grand jury has been set up in the US for the purpose of
indicting Assange for his work with WikiLeaks, and that he could face the death penalty
if sent to trial.
Mr Paul Madden
if sent to trial.

3. Organise
Collective mass action is the key to getting this issue on the political agenda:
To be kept informed of upcoming events in Sydney, add your name
to the Support Assange and WikiLeaks Coalition mailing list: email
gailmalone@skymesh.com.au with Assange in the subject line.
To get involved in organising and help us plan future events, call Linda on 0401
511 588 or Corinne on 0415 126 649.
Join Friends of WikiLeaks, the WikiLeaks network, to find and communicate with like-
minded Wikileaks supporters in your neighbourhood or across the globe: wlfriends.org
4. Keep WikiLeaks strong
WikiLeaks is a not-for-profit media organisation entirely supported by donations
from the public. WikiLeaks aim is simple: justice through transparency. In
publishing evidence of war crimes and corruption on a global scale, the organisation
has given us the information we need to hold governments to account. WikiLeaks
releases also give us a broader understanding of how power is exercised in our
name, and thereby the means we need to work towards a just society for all.
Please help WikiLeaks continue its vital work: visit shop.wikileaks.org/donate
5. Spread the word
Help counter the smears and factual inaccuracies: tell your friends about Julian
Assange and WikiLeaks and encourage them to take action too!
